Power Up Your SPIRIT
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
Psalms 34:18 NLT
I can only imagine what it feels like to be in a boat, in the middle of the vast sea, amidst a raging storm and see your life flash before your eyes.
This was the case of the disciples when they took Jesus in their boat.
We are so quick to judge them saying, after all, Jesus was in the boat.
But we’ve all been in similar situations where we give up on the inside before the external situation crushes us. In those times, we often lament before remembering to call on Jesus.
When I was Managing Editor of a print magazine, I was always anxious as the release date drew near. That’s when I’d hear news like:
- This person turned down the interview
- The printer has said the prices will increase
- We’ve not gotten enough ads to fund the publication for that month
I would feel helpless and would eventually say, “God please!” Eventually, we never missed a month.
Your experience will be different but know this:
If you feel crushed or broken, there’s always a way.
Hack Your BODY
Can you deliver excellent results with a broken heart and crushed spirit?
No, you can’t. That’s the simple answer.
To deliver well, you must make a switch. When you give up inside, you automatically get crushed outside. But when your mind is intact, you may be threatened externally, but you’ll thrive.
Excellence is not just about the external results you get, but also how you feel inside. If you’ve delivered a big milestone for your organisation, yet you feel dead inside, it will be difficult for you to appreciate the good work you did.
You may be heartbroken or crushed due to the loss of a loved one, poor job satisfaction, an unhealthy relationship, or a mental replay of negative situations.
But through all this, here’s the confidence you have:
God is close. He is ready to rescue you. Ask for help.
Grow Your SOUL
“A stressful event or issue I’m having in my relationships/at work/home is (describe it) …”
(source: GrowthDay)
Being able to find the problem brings the solution into view. Writing down your thoughts about how you feel concerning a situation has proven therapeutic and often leads to more clarity.
Take some time to do this activity, and it’ll make your prayers more specific on how you need God’s help.
