Enjoy The Season You Are In

Then God said, “…Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years.” Genesis 1:14 NLT

Whenever I carry my daughter in my arms and she struggles to jump down because she prefers to run around, I remind her of when she would gently sleep in my arms as a newborn. That ship has sailed and it is not coming back.

There was a time I could take crazy risks and do anything I wanted. I could start a new idea just because I felt like it. I could spend time experimenting on a hunch and shrug if it didn’t work out.

There was a time I could make investments that would deplete my financial resources and not mind because I still had a roof over my head and food to eat, thanks to my parents. I could spend 20 hours working or 8 hours binging on Game of Thrones, just because I could do it.

Now I’m in a different season. Every time spent is calculated. Every penny already has an allocation. Every risk has dire consequences on more than one life. The cost of starting a new random idea has to be counted well.

As the saying goes, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. No two seasons are identical. As the days and years pass, we grow and so does everything around us. What we do today will influence tomorrow. How you approached life ten years ago isn’t the same way you should now.

But, the season should never hinder you from becoming. The only difference is in the how.

If this is the season where the business risks you take won’t have adverse effects, then take them. If this is the season that allows you to explore your gifts and hop from job to job to expand your knowledge, then carry on. If this is the season where you have to consider your family before starting that new business or taking that new job because of the consequences, then have those important conversations with your partner; it will help you make good decisions, not risky ones.

Take advantage of your current season. Don’t look back at the previous seasons and decide to live in the past. The present and future have a lot to offer. Take the offer and thrive.
