Don’t Learn Everything You Are Taught (Part 2)

A few years ago, I discovered a concept that was so profound, it changed my perspective about life.

In my previous post, I shared why everyone has his unique path and how the Holy Spirit is the ultimate guider.

With that, you also have to know how to create the life you want, instead of trying to shapen it to fit someone else’s.

In Fine Art class (for those of you who did Fine Art as a subject in your early school years), you’ll remember clay. Clay, when soft, allows you mould into anything you want.

Now imagine that in your right hand hand, you have a soft clay ball which you can still shapen into anything you want.

In your left hand, you have a round stone which is already hard and can’t change shape.

Those balls represent your life.

You see, there are two kinds of people on earth:

There are those who try to shapen their lives according to the standards that other people set. These are the stone people. And the people they try to emulate could be their mentors, parents, friends, motivational speakers, or even their bosses.

The lives of these people we look up to already have a specific shape. And because we see their lives as the standard, we then force ourselves to take the shape they have already moulded because according to people, you must conform. You must do what society expects.

This often leads to feelings of dissatisfaction and unfulfillment in what you do. You’ll tend to complain a lot and get frustrated because you’re trying to be what you’re not or what doesn’t suit you.

Then there are those who mould their lives according to what they want to see. These are the clay people. Yes they see that it’s already a ball. It’s already round. But what if they press it in on all sides? Would it turn into a square?

So they try it, and create the shape they want. You can call that “customisation”. Unlike the stone people, they don’t see life and its standards as something they must conform to.

They believe that regardless of the standards, they can create their own standards so they can be happy.

Even the Bible says that we shouldn’t be conformed to this world but be transformed (Romans 12:2).

The stone people are those who conform to standards. The clay people are those who transform standards. Like the image, start creating what you want.

And once again, the Holy Spirit makes transformation easier. Do you have the Holy Spirit?
