“You know that I did not hold back anything that would be of help to you…” Acts 20:20 GNT
For a couple of years, I didn’t commit to writing consistently. Asides from the fact that I had other interests, life had its own struggles that ate up most of my discipline and commitment.
It was hard getting back on track and having that liberating feeling of knowing I was exploring everything I had optimally. I knew something was hidden but uncovering it was just difficult.
From time constraints to a lack of motivation, I held back many things I wanted to say and do. Today, I don’t know the ripple effect of this, but I know that during those times, someone could have received just what they needed to live a more fulfilling life.
Notwithstanding, I’m glad those times existed because I probably never really appreciated that superpower until it became hard to draw it out.
Should you wait till difficult times before you recognise and appreciate the gifts you have? I beg you not to. When the stars are aligned and life seems to be going according to plan, we tend to trivialise the little things. Don’t let this be the case for you.
Understand that the gift you have been blessed with isn’t for you but to help someone else. You don’t have to be a writer to do this. I’ve heard of song artists who create music to uplift hearts; Art and Craft creators whose work evokes happiness; Strategists whose ideas lead to profitable results, and so on.
Every time we allow the joyful or sad moments of life to stop us from blessing others with what we have been given, someone lives another day feeling deprived of what they could have received from you.
Perhaps this is a call to action for you. Your platform may be the leadership position at work and not social media. It may be the pulpit in church or the association you belong to. Whatever it may be, consciously desire to express your gifts and the opportunities to do so will be open to you.
The world awaits your work.
