SPIRIT
“People may plan all kinds of things, but the Lord’s will is going to be done.”
Proverbs 19:21 GNT
This verse has caused a lot of analysis paralysis in the lives of Christians, and it still is. There is always that confusion of, “Does this plan align with God’s will?”, or “Should I even go ahead?”
After meditating on it, I got a different understanding that I’ll share here.
The thing is it doesn’t matter how many plans you have or execute, those plans have no choice but to fulfil God’s will. God can use your many plans to fulfil His will.
However, embedded in that scripture is the act of “surrendering”. When you make plans, pray about them, ask the Lord to influence your decision making and ultimately, ask that His will is done.
Here’s what will happen next: When you start executing your plan, it can twist and turn in ways you didn’t foresee. This is God causing your plan to fulfil His will. If you truly surrendered, you would not fight it but instead go back to God to declare your trust in His process and ask for strength to manage new surprises.
This way, everything you do fulfils God’s will for your life. Some plans may stop, and some may perform better than expected. God is aligning it all.
BODY
Should we set goals even when we are unsure of God’s will?
The simple answer is YES. Set them. Then surrender those goals to God. Some goals will stop at ideation. Some will stop when you take the first step. Some will be rerouted midway. And some will get to the end.
However, God is more concerned about you. No matter how the goals are achieved, He wants to ensure that the process transforms you into becoming who He needs you to be. That is His will, and He will ensure that your plans fulfil that will, through His process.
SOUL

Now it’s time to write those plans down. Plans change as we grow, and it’s important to always be sure what’s best for us at different stages of life.
Remember to surrender to God your answer(s) to this question and you’ll be surprised at fulfilled you will be.
