“…And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”” Matthew 9:28 NKJV
As a teenager, I picked up my first personal development book, “Goals by Brian Tracy” and I have been drawn to self-help ever since. It’s fascinating to see how you can set your mind on something and just have every other thing twist and turn as you accomplish that single goal.
There was also a period where I lost my flow and just survived through life, feeling like I had no control over my circumstances. But everything that God had put in me through my parents, education, and friends came rushing back to memory and forced me out of that phase. What you take in is so important.
As a Physics major, I studied articles on the mind a lot. I tilted towards the quantum side of life instead of trying to understand what made machines tick. I read so much about neuroscience and realised one thing:
Everything starts from the smallest thought.
As your thoughts compound, they form the beliefs that create your reality. And that somehow led me to understand that whatever you believe will work for you.
We see many instances in the scripture where Jesus Christ had to confirm from the other party if they believed what they were asking for. And that’s why even after giving them their miracle, he made them understand that they were healed because they believed. In other words, if a bundle of miracles was wrapped in front of you, it doesn’t matter how close you are to it, you won’t possess it without belief.
To back this up, science suggests that belief can have positive or negative effects. You can either believe that the miracle can work for you and partake of its goodness or crucify the miracle and stay as you are.
You can look at yourself now and believe that nothing can be done to change you and so everyone just has to “live” with you as you are. Or you can believe that regardless of the number of years you’ve been cast in your ways, you can do things differently.
Everything I write is not for those who don’t believe and scoff at every personal development tip. It’s for the self-aware who believe they can be better.
Before you read anything, you must first believe that there is something in it that will transform you. Otherwise, you’ll read letters and lose the revelations.
If the way you work has gotten you this far, good for you. But can it get you to where and who you genuinely want to be? Every day, my answer to this question is a big fat NO. And so whatever new insight I learn, I share. Can I apply everything at once? Maybe not, but like the blind men in the focus scripture, I believe I can work differently.
Do you believe?
Today’s Task: Answer this: “Can the way you work get you to where and who you truly want to be?”
