“Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Psalms 31:24 NKJV
Birthdays are beautiful, especially when the celebrant has a heart of gratitude and is expectant of something. My daughter knows when it’s her birthday because she receives extra special treatment. Once the cake arrives, it becomes “my cake,” and she’s all over it.
As the birthday approaches, you know a special day is coming, even though you don’t have it yet. This is like hoping in the Lord—you wait on Him for something extraordinary to happen.
The anchor scripture actually reads better when you invert it. It says that those who wait on the Lord are strong and alert. In other words, our senses are tuned enough to know that something good is coming, which keeps us strong.
How can we create a hopeful work environment?
When you need clarification on your destination, the journey seems like a waste of time. But if the destination is certain, a 15-minute bus delay only creates anxiety, not a feeling of uselessness.
We pull people into our circles because we believe walking the path together has a destination we all desire. This is why people join certain organisations or form specific business partnerships.
For those who work at your company or partner with you, do you have something hopeful for them to look forward to, or do they feel like they’re wasting time?
For those you work with, do they stay alert, identifying possible signs of progress towards that future you painted for them, or are they depressed, missing the opportunities around them?
Whether you’re leading an organisation, family, siblings, or yourself, creating a hopeful atmosphere around you influences the actions of those with you.
Creating a vision may seem easy, but casting that vision is more important. We stay with God and wait on Him because He has shown us an expected end.
“I help everyone around me to thrive.”
I may see where I’m headed, but casting that vision for those who will go with me is a skill I’m still learning. When everyone has a common goal, thriving becomes focused more on the state of mind and less on physical circumstances.
Are you doing it alone, or are you giving others an opportunity to be blessed on the journey you’re on? Going forward, how will you carry others along on your journey to fulfilling God’s calling in your life?
