Divine inspiration is a thing. Sometimes it’s possible to feel guilty praying for success in your career or business when you should be praying for the eradication of world hunger or something of that magnitude.
But God is interested in every aspect of our lives. There’s no part that’s more important than the other. For God, there’s really no scale of preference, just seasons.
In a prayer meeting when told to just ask God for one thing, I can practically hear my thoughts sieving through the materialistic and eternal requests, trying to see which one would make me look better before God. It’s ironic because the God I’m trying to package for is actually aware of the mental sieving I’m doing and probably laughing at my intentions. So why bother?
It’s okay to ask Him for strategies on how to impress your client or boss, or how to meet your KPIs for the quarter. There’s nothing wrong in asking him to show you how to mingle better with colleagues, or what He thinks about that person you seem to have a thing for.
It’s our job to ask and His job to reveal the answers we need at the right time. The Holy Spirit is an ever-present companion that wants to know all the gists and gossip you have about work. He wants to know how frustrated or happy you are.
He wants to help, but you have to bring him in.
So if world hunger or global poverty isn’t your thing, not a problem. He’s still very much open to helping you decide on the most basic things, like whether spaghetti or rice is the best lunch for work today. Because when you ask, what He says is the truth you need at that point in time.
Seek His truth on everything and you’ll never go wrong.
