“But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”” Exodus 3:11 NKJV
I recently signed up for a program where the coach said, “We already have everything we need to get to our destinations. But because we like to blame something for our failures, we look for new frameworks and other shiny objects that we are told will help us achieve our goals. Eventually, when the framework doesn’t work for us, we blame it and look for the next one.” And the cycle continues.
In 2018, I created a beta version of a training program, but it never passed beta. Why? I wanted the stars to align and conditions to be perfect. In 2019, I created a freelance course that I never sold. Why? I didn’t think I was smart enough. I delayed starting this newsletter for months. Why? The fear of the audience crippled me. “They’re too smart to read my content,” I said.
It’s easy to think that those we respect have it all figured out. That they’re perfect and have no flaws. From afar they look like heroes with capes and superhuman abilities. But a closer look reveals that just like every human, they have their weaknesses that have the potential to end their careers in an instant.
The difference is they know these weaknesses, acknowledge them and put a check on them. We all have strengths, but those who use theirs understand that weaknesses should not stop them.
Did Moses in the focus scripture still have his weaknesses? Sure. But I’ve discovered that all objections have antidotes. The reason we jump from solution to solution is due to mental barriers we have set, and not the solution. Sure, some solutions don’t work, but no matter how bad they are, people who have overcome their mental limitations can make lemonade from lemons.
Are you also struggling to overcome imposter syndrome? The feeling doesn’t stop, but what we can fix is how we deal with it. Our heroes feel like imposters sometimes too, but like them, our ‘why’, strengths and faith can give us the courage to be super.
