You probably want to start a new project, get a new job, switch careers or just increase your income. But no matter what you choose there’ll always be an obstacle to threaten you.
Every path has an obstacle. The paths that are less travelled have the greatest obstacles. This is why trailblazers are usually celebrated.
Obstacles exist to ensure you are worthy of getting to the other side. They can slow you down, but they can’t stop you.
No matter what the goal is, one very important step is to identify possible obstacles on the path. This helps knock out possible excuses that could stop you from going after the goal consistently.
For example; you’re really passionate about baking and would love to start baking cakes as a passion project, which should also put some money in your pocket.
When identifying your obstacles, you might say, “I don’t have the equipment I need to bake”. For many people with a similar passion project, this could be the obstacle that will completely stop them in their tracks.
To crush this obstacle, you need to say, “how can I get the equipment I need?” At that point, you start seeing opportunities.
You could save up from your regular salary to get the tools. You could get a loan from your family. You could borrow tools from a friend who also bakes. Or you could just start with the basic tools you have before you’re able to upgrade.
Obstacles are not designed to stop you. There’s either a way around the obstacle or through it, but it’s on your path so you can overcome it.
It may take you a long time to get to the other side but never lose your momentum.
