An easy way to count your blessings is write down the problems you think you have and tick them when they’re solved.
Sometimes forcing people to see the good things around them is hard. They won’t even see being able to stand as a blessing.
So since the negatives are so easier to spot, let’s focus on that.
If you’re presently going through a really rough phase in your life and you find it hard embracing the good things you have going for you, let’s do a small exercise.
Ensure you list out every problem you think you have in your life, from the smallest to the biggest and in all areas. As long as a particular thing causes you to worry, write it down.
You’ll realize two things:
1. You’ll actually have to think about what problems you have.
2. You don’t have that many problems.
With each problem, write out what exactly you want.
For example:
Problem: I don’t have a job.
What I want: I have a job that pays me 7 figures monthly, helping me live a comfortable life.
Once you’re done with your list, whether on a digital notepad or in a journal, keep it easily accessible.
Why?
On a daily basis, you must open that list and pray about each item. Even when you go through your day and you remember your list, open it and say a word of prayer about each one.
It’s as simple as saying one or two lines about what you want meaningfully.
You don’t have to complete the list at a go. But complete it daily.
You’ll realize two things:
1. Your words are powerful
2. In a couple of days, weeks or months from now, some items will get ticked off, if not all.
If by the time you start ticking off some problems on your list you still can’t count your blessings and actually name them one by one, then you might need to include a gratitude problem on your list too.
