We constantly pray and strive for the next big achievement, promotion, award or recognition that sometimes, we don’t realise that the future becomes only possible when we focus on the present. This is why dreaming of the future and procrastinating on what you should do now doesn’t go well with success.
To get to the next level of results, you first have to achieve results where you are. Your current results open the doors for more.
There are times when I would pray for bigger opportunities which require bigger results while current results are still average. I’d be so fixed on the future that even current results become unrecognised. At work, I would be so eager to reach the point where I help a client achieve record-breaking revenue that I would lose sight of the small success I had helping a client run online ads.
That wasn’t the case for Joseph. His boss saw just how excellent his current deliverables were and knew he had to give him an upgrade. Without showing current exploits, he may not have had the opportunity to be celebrated for bigger ones.
As you look up to your mentors and role models, wishing you were where they currently are, also look at yourself and deliver results where you are.
As you deliver results where you are, celebrate them because they are stepping stones to greater ones.
As you pray for God to open up bigger doors, ask him to help you in your current position. The gatekeeper to your next level will see that God helped you achieve exploits at your current level and be willing to give you upward access because you have a track record of causing prosperity everywhere you go.
