“…For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:20 NLT
“We could have a baby” is still only a wish until there is fertilisation. At that point, work has begun in transforming that idea into something tangible, which in this case, is a baby.
I learned early to always have a handy notepad so I can write out all the ideas I wish to birth. No work gets done on most of them, but many times, those wishes form the seed of the actual ideas I get to work on.
For the times I jumped on wishes, I ended up working several months on projects I’d eventually abandon.
I believe strongly in the power of conviction. While this may not happen all the time, my best ideas are those backed by divine instruction and then faith.
When this happens, and the idea is conceived, the next question is, do I have the capacity to birth this? Why was this responsibility entrusted to my hands?
These were probably some of the questions Mary had when she was informed about the conception of Jesus.
I’ve realised that many of us think we have the willpower to birth wishes, but don’t. And the reason is our inability to clearly define why we want to carry that idea full term. Defining why will further help identify possible obstacles and risks on the way.
When Moses encountered the burning bush and drilled God with questions and excuses, he looked doubtful. But if he didn’t do that to get the answers he wanted, he would most likely stop the work halfway like many of us have.
There is nothing wrong with questioning an original instruction or idea with the intent to understand. Being sure of the work you’re about to get yourself into will save you months of pointless effort.
But once the idea is conceived, daily build your capacity to go through the transformation process full term.
A generation is waiting to be blessed by the new birth.
