“And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them and made another five talents. And likewise, he who had received two gained two more also.” In Matthew 25:15-17.
In the first part of this series, we delved into the idea that God has called us based on our identity and blessed us with gifts in alignment with our calling. Now, we’re exploring the relationship between our abilities and the work we do with the gifts God has given us.
We are built and designed like God, created in His image. Our capacity reflects His, but our ability limits us. Imagine a power grid designed to produce 10,000 megawatts but only able to produce 5,000 due to limitations in equipment and skills. We, too, have the capacity to do more, but factors like mindset, knowledge, and environment limit us.
How do we work with what we have received?
The master gave talents according to the servants’ abilities, not unfairly. It’s not unjust to have different abilities; it’s about how we use what we have. Time plays a vital role in our journey, so instant results are unrealistic. The servants in the parable traded by working with their talents over time, multiplying them.
We often compare our gifts to others’, questioning why we have fewer. But the focus should be on what we do with what we have received. The servant with five talents had the capacity for ten, and the one with two also multiplied them. We work with what we’ve been given to discover our true capacity.
We’re on a journey to convert our resources into results. Working with our current abilities enables us to overcome limitations and obstacles. The more we grow in knowledge and skill, the more our ability increases, aligning with our God-given capacity.
Our Godlikeness shines through when we overcome obstacles. We have the capacity to achieve great things; we need to break through the limitations holding us back.

How will you work with what you have received? And how will you allow that work to break the limitations in front of you so you can express your Godlikeness the way God wants you to? These are the questions that we need to answer as we strive to grow in ability every day.
It takes making a conscious decision to work with what we have, allowing it to break through the limitations, so we can reach the capacity that God originally put in us. Let’s express our Godlikeness the way God intended.
