Power Up Your SPIRIT
“[8] And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV
Generosity leads to fulfillment.
This is a rule that even the wealthiest people know and practice. Giving back to others from the abundance that you have makes you feel like you’re doing something noble, even if you’ve been a bad person all your life.
People give for different reasons:
- Some give because it makes them fulfil their beliefs about giving.
- Some give as a form of redemption – to clear guilt they have about something.
- Some give to show off.
Why do you give?
My family has a daily confession, and part of it says, “I give because I am blessed”.
The message we like to hear is that we should give so that we can be blessed. When you make this your focus, giving becomes a transaction.
Instead, give from gratitude for how abundantly God has blessed you. This way, in all things and at all times, giving won’t look like a subtraction but simply a transfer of resources that will eventually flow back to you.
Hack Your BODY
How does giving help us do good work?
1. Giving helps you build a mindset of abundance.
Being broke, and saying you’re broke has an effect on how we see what we have. Nothing ever looks enough.
The Holy Spirit cautioned me many years back to never declare that I was broke and showed me proof of how God had provided even when I was down to my last penny.
This way, even when I work on a project that isn’t exactly high paying, I’m hardly influenced by the amount being paid because the value comes back to me in diverse ways, once I do excellent work.
2. Giving helps you build goodwill.
If you always feel like you never have, you won’t be able to show up financially for a friend or stranger in need.
Feeling depressed for not having money also shuts down your creative mind from discovering other ways to be there for others. You forget that giving isn’t just about money in the bank.
But you can change your perspective and trick your brain by giving what you have, no matter how small. Then check whether you die the next day.
If you don’t die, that’s because you’re now in survival mode, and your body starts to emit energy that actively searches for opportunities to receive. You might be surprised at the channel through which you’ll be blessed.
Grow Your SOUL
“Asides money, what do I have in abundance that I can give to others?“
What you give doesn’t have to be physical. When you force your mind to answer this question, you will be surprised at what you have in abundance that you never knew existed in your life.
