“And your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” Matthew 6:6 NKJV
We live in a physical world and so we need physical things. The world grades us on our performance, which is physical. How many new deals did we close? How much revenue did we generate? How many projects did we complete? How many exams did we pass? And so on.
But these physical performances didn’t happen in isolation. They were influenced by non-physical events that we can’t see. The spiritual influences the physical and this isn’t just for miracles but for everything.
God, in the bid to answer our prayers, sometimes doesn’t give us the answer right away. He often takes us through a growth process so that a series of non-physical events can lead to the manifestation of the answer to that prayer.
For example, you pray for exponential results at work so you can get promoted. The spiritual powers then have a board meeting on your case and create a trail of events.
So for you to get exponential results and sustain the promotion you receive, you have to develop unseen or secret traits that no one can see, such as excellence in what you do, consistency to show up every time, and boldness to conquer your fears, etc. So while you’re waiting every day for that big break at work, secret events are already taking place.
Unfortunately, because you don’t know that your prayer for promotion won’t drop on your laps overnight, you become insensitive to and unconscious of the unseen manifestations already happening in and around you. Eventually, you misuse them and destroy your chances of getting that promotion.
I’ve come to understand that when I pray for uncommon results in what I do (physical event), I also need to pray for the grace to recognise and take advantage of the opportunities and growth process that will lead to those results (spiritual event). This way, when I see an opportunity to be consistent or to overcome fear, because I know it’s connected to my prayer, I ask for the willpower to go through it.
So the next time you pray for physical results at work, acknowledge the spiritual events that will yield those results and add them to your prayers as well. Your success will stand the test of time that way.
