“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:10 NKJV
As a leader, I had a standard for good work which I expected my team members to meet up to. There was a lady on the team who fell short at one time, and I reprimanded her to the point that she cried and felt like a bad person. I hated myself for doing that and had to apologize some days after.
For God, there is also a standard for good works that we will get to once we are in Christ. It’s non-negotiable because the divine nature we take on is good. However, it’s a journey of perfection.
While the divine nature is inherently good, we still find ourselves doing evil because of the war between flesh and spirit.
But God is gracious. He won’t act like I did by making us feel like bad people. He instead gives us a chance to adjust and get back on track. He is so confident in His main product (Christ) that every other product that chooses to align will also be good.
That’s the same confidence we should have.
BODY
If our divine nature is good, does this mean we will always do excellent work?
No, it doesn’t, but we can always do excellent work the more we walk with Him.
It boils down to trust. By ourselves, we can’t always be excellent because of the limitations and flaws in us.
But when we expand our limitations and have our flaws transformed with the help of the Holy Spirit, we won’t be able to fully understand how we do what we do. We would just know we were helped and give glory to God.
SOUL
“If I could motivate or push others around me to higher standards of excellence, I would first start with…”

To guide your response to this, start with something in you first. It could be for you first to understand what excellence means or perhaps, be less judgmental about others.
This way when you do start pushing others, you do it gracefully, not forcefully. So, what is it going to be?
