A couple of years ago while in Secondary school, I stumbled on a quote by Abraham Lincoln that literally defined how I lived my life many years after. I know the version I read probably isn’t the original statement, but it still helped regardless…
“I will always prepare, so that when my time comes, I will be ready”
– Abraham Lincoln
Was I always ready when a new opportunity came knocking on the door? Definitely not 100%. But the truth is it always made me look out for lessons in almost every negative situation that crossed my path.
I don’t know how possible it is to always be 100% ready for every new opportunity. I think that’s similar to taking life too seriously…yuck!
But I know it’s possible to always have a ready mindset, spotting your errors along the way and learning lessons from them.
When a negative situation comes your way, or you make a mistake you didn’t foresee, just one lesson is all you need to leverage opportunities as they come. Lessons are seeds. They will always yield and multiply when an opportunity presents itself.
In the current negative situation, what lessons are you learning?
