“In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honourable.” Philippians 4:8 GNT
As I meditated on this scripture, guess what happened? I had an avalanche of negative and contrary thoughts. It was like the devil sent an army to invade my head. Before realising it, I had spent almost 15 minutes thinking about trash.
The anchor scripture is no easy feat. That was why Paul had to write it because he also fought this same battle daily.
But if we’re able to achieve this and really focus on thoughts about God and his goodness all through our day, what do we stand to enjoy?
- A renewed mind. As we intentionally tune our thoughts, we gradually become like Jesus, seeing God behind every situation and continually giving thanks instead of sulking.
- We transcend into higher dimensions. Our thoughts will be so superior that even those we work with will marvel at what we’re able to pull off. We’ll begin to work like God.
Change your thoughts; change your life.
How can focusing our minds on Godly thoughts impact our behaviour at work?
I always say to myself, “I think, feel, speak, and act like God because I am born of God.” I start with thought because it is the foundation of every action.
To be exceptional in our deliverables at work, we first must think of exceptional thoughts. These thoughts will feed our emotions with exceptional feelings that even we may not understand. The atmosphere can be hostile, but we’ll feel joy. That’s exceptional.
From these emotions, we begin to speak life into our words. When others say, “This task is hard,” we’ll say, “We can do this!” Eventually, our exceptional actions will be proof of our thoughts all along. We’ll execute flawlessly, and God will be glorified. That’s the life of a believer.
“Henceforth, I take note of my emotions and thoughts.”
Being able to identify your emotions and thoughts at any time is a gift to yourself. Going through life without taking stock of where you are (body, soul, and spirit) is like going at top speed in the wrong direction, blindfolded.
Today is a good day to do this right. Take down a few notes in your journal and let this reflection help you make the right decisions.
