True success is not determined by how much you charge for your work, but by how much you love those whom you serve.
It’s very easy to believe that once your prices are high, whether you’re selling products or services or both, automatically, you make more profit (which is true) and your business becomes successful.
If profit was the only factor for business success, then that school of thought would be valid. But since success is relative, that thought doesn’t hold water.
Does this now mean we shouldn’t charge high prices? Or that we should serve everyone? Nope.
What it means is don’t let that be your ultimate goal. It’s beginning to look like having money as the ultimate goal for anything is just bad business.
I’ve probably forgotten most of the laws I was taught as a Physics student back in school, but one that has stayed with me is the Law of Cause and Effect – “For every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction”.
A perfect example of this is what you’ll find in Proverbs 11:25-26.
This simply means that some things automatically happen to you when you do specific things. You don’t have to ask or negotiate for them. They just come to you. For every action, there’s a reaction.
For example:
– Being generous brings wealth.
– Helping others brings help to you.
– Engineering a “black market” on your work brings curses.
– Making your work (products or services) available brings blessings.
(Prov. 11:25-26).
In other words, if you want wealth, help, curses or blessings, you know exactly what to do.
You can only genuinely be generous or provide help when your ultimate focus is not on how much you can make but on how much you can serve.
The motive is very important.
The black market experts have something coming for them.
